I purchased it after downloading the beta release. However, I wanted to mention that when you buy the disk, that is ALL you are getting.
Just make sure that you are prepared to only use chat forums to answer your questions (if they have been answered). However, there was no phone number to call, or online chat or anything.
There is no live customer support, and when I had problems installing initially after a reformat, I kept getting an error that was unsolved online. Not surprisingly, they didn't get back to me.With the latest update, I was able to download and once again use the product, so it works again for me now.
I have owned VMWare Fusion for about two years now. It works great, as others have mentioned.
I finally just wrote a complaint to the corporate dept.
Also, if you have any Windows disc you have to have the product key on the computer too that the software came with. I have only the SP3 from my Dell cpu and it doesn't work with VMWare. I tried to borrow a friend's disc and it won't work either because he doesn't have that cpu anymore (he has an XP SP 2 disc).
It worked perfectly on my iMac. Item ordered was received in a timely manner. Very pleased with everything.
You'll probably want to check out the manuals on the website to answer some random questions. I think it's mostly a pretty intuitive program. Another weird thing is that sometimes my Windows drive on my mac desktop disappears. The Windows side does seem to run a little slow, but it's Windows. So I am actually running version 2.
Overall, I like the program and I am happy with the purchase. I think that's usually after I have ran VMware fusion. It is quite creepy to see the toolbar on my mac in the unity mode. First off, I purchased this version because it is cheaper than version 2 and you can upgrade to version 2 for free on the company's website. One frustration is that you can't (as far as I know) move the toolbar to another location on the screen, so I have to move my dock to the side of the screen to be able to access the toolbar.
It doesn't seem to slow down my mac much, although I haven't done too much with it at this point.
I had absolutely no problems. VMware Fusion was very easy to install and works right out of the box. Get it.
